KR Media Limited Brand System Edition One · Kampala

Accurate. Trusted. News from Uganda & beyond.

One house, four practices: a consultancy, a publisher, a content studio and a marketing arm. This system is what holds them together — one mark, one ink, one voice on paper, on screen and in the field.

01

The mark

KR Media Limited PRIMARY · cyan on paper
KR Media Limited reversed REVERSED · white on cyan
KR Media Limited on ink ONE COLOUR · white on ink
KR monogram

Clear space. Keep free space equal to the height of the K on all four sides. Nothing sits inside it — no rules, no text, no photo edge.

Monogram at 16mm Monogram minimum

Minimum size. Full lockup no smaller than 32mm wide in print, 140px on screen. Below that, use the KR monogram alone.

Monogram cyan
Monogram reversed

The monogram. For avatars, favicons, badges, stamps and the corner of a social post. Never squeeze the wordmark into a square.

Do
  • Print the mark in brand cyan or in one flat colour.
  • Set it flush left, aligned to the page's text edge.
  • Give it air — more than you think it needs.
Don't
  • Add a gradient, shadow, outline or container to the mark.
  • Stretch, rotate, recolour or re-typeset the wordmark.
  • Place it on a busy photograph without a clear field.
02

Ink

Newsprint economics: paper, black ink, and one spot colour. KR cyan is the spot. Magenta is held back for a single flag — a deadline, a correction, a price — and never appears twice on the same piece.

KR Cyan #00AEEF The spot. Mark, links, rules, one figure per page.
Press Ink #201E1D All body copy, all headlines.
Newsprint #F3F2F2 The ground for every page and screen.
Deep Cyan #00648C Cyan at paragraph size, where the bright ink can't hold.
Flag Magenta #D6006C Rare. One flag per piece, never beside cyan.
03

Type

HEADLINE · 600 · -0.02em The record of record
STANDFIRST · 400 · 1.5 A subhead carries the second sentence of the story and never repeats the first.
BODY · 400 · 17/1.65

Body copy is Source Serif 4 at 17px on screen, 11pt on paper, always flush left and ragged right. Measure caps at 68 characters. Emphasis takes the true italic, never bold — bold is reserved for the small run-in labels that open a paragraph.

DATELINE · 600 · 0.18em CAPS Kampala · Thursday 11 September
Aa
Source Serif 4 Regular 400 · Semibold 600 · Italic 400. One family, three cuts, nothing else. Free on Google Fonts, so every laptop in the office can install it.
Fallback for Word and email: Georgia, then Times New Roman. Never Calibri or Arial.
04

Page furniture

The thick–thin pair. The only rule the brand draws. It sits above a dateline or a masthead and nowhere else.

The cyan tick. A short spot rule that opens a section on forms and slides. 64px long, 3px thick, flush left.

Section label

Letterspaced caps. Labels, folios and kickers. Never longer than four words, never in cyan below 13px.

No boxes. Sections are separated by whitespace. If something needs a border to read, it needs more space instead.

05

Voice

Say the thing.

Lead with the fact, not the framing. "We placed 40 journalists at your launch" beats "we deliver end-to-end media solutions."

Name the source.

A publisher's credibility is its attribution. Numbers carry a date; claims carry a name. Never a statistic without a footing.

Short sentences.

Newsroom length. If a sentence needs a comma to survive, cut it in two. No jargon a client would not say out loud.

Always written theKampalaReport.com One word, camel-cased, no space, no "The Kampala Report" in body copy.
The company KR Media Limited Full name on contracts, invoices and letterheads. "KR Media" in running copy.
The line Accurate. Trusted. Full tagline locked to the mark. Never re-set, never translated, never split.
